Resumen

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by increased blood sugar levels. The treatment of diabetic patients is carried out using non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments. Banana (Musa sapientum L.) peels are known to have pharmacological effects, such as antioxidant and hypoglycemic. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of banana (Musa sapientum L.) peel biscuits administration on blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients, providing a potential non-pharmacological treatment option. Methods: It is an experimental research with a pre-posttest and control group design. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique, with a sample size of 40 diabetic patients, all taking metformin (20 intervention, 20 control groups). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test.
