Diseño de la Información: Diarismo más simple, más profundo

Abstract

La empresa periodística, tanto o más que cualquier otra, es altamente competitiva. Cada diario, revista o suplemento de circulación periódica necesita renovarse constantemente, adaptarse y superar sus propios estándares con cierta regularidad. Es por ello que en una sociedad signada por la competitividad, el periodismo impreso no es ajeno a este tipo de relación. Quien crea que la prensa son simplemente páginas llenas de letras y signos de puntuación, que lo piense de nuevo. Desde su nacimiento y durante años, cada página del diario fue concebida como un gran bloque de texto aburrido y pesado, en ocasiones agrietado por alguna fotografía relacionada. La grieta finalmente se hizo más grande ante la acción erosiva de la tecnología y el enfoque que los nuevos tiempos requieren de la noticia. Ahora el bloque se convierte en masilla en las manos de diseñadores, infógrafos y diagramadores que transforman datos en información digerible para el lector de todos los días. De esta manera son cada vez más los diarios con diseños atrevidos y vanguardistas en sus páginas, sin disminuir el carácter noticioso de sus contenidos ni sacrificar información, por el contrario, resaltándola y haciéndola más entendible y, por ende, útil al público. Por ello, este trabajo de grado, se abocará en primer lugar a buscar una definición de lo que significa diseñar la información, mediante el estudio y comprensión de sus diversos estadios y componentes, desde las causas que dieron lugar a esta disciplina, hasta proyecciones a futuro, pasando por su presente. Se describirán las tendencias actuales del diseño de contenidos informativos a nivel nacional internacional, sobre todo en los diarios más vanguardistas en cuanto sus diseños, y en base a ello construir una propuesta tangible de diplomado en Diseño de la Información.

Journalism is highly competitive. Each newspaper or magazine of periodic circulation needs to renew constantly, to adapt and to surpass its own standards with certain regularity. It is for that reason that, in a society signed by the competitiveness, the printed media is not a stranger to this type of relation. Who believes that newspapers are just pages full of letters and punctuation signs, should think about that again. From its birth and during years, each page of the newspaper was conceived as a big, boring and heavy text block, sometimes cracked by a related photography. That crack has grown thanks to the erosive action of the technology and the approach that these times they require of the information. Now the block becomes putty in the hands of designers and infografists that transform data into digestible information for the everyday-reader. This way they are more and more the newspapers with bold and vanguard designs in its pages, without diminishing the informative nature of its contents neither to sacrifice information, on the contrary, emphasizing it and making it more understandable and, therefore, useful to the public. For this reason, this investigation, will be led in the first place to look for a definition of what is to design the information, by studying and understanding all of his diverse stages and components, from the causes that gave rise to this discipline, until projections to future, including a glimpse of the present times. Tendencies in the design of informative contents will be described in a national and international level, mainly in vanguard newspapers on the basis of their designs, and to construct a tangible proposal of a diplomat in Design of the Information.
